  • Job Description: Security Control Room Operator - Days/Nights Rotating Schedule 
    Location: Christchurch
    Hours: 07:00 - 19:00 & 19:00 - 07:00
    Pay: £13.87 per hour +
    Term: Full Time - 40hrs + 
    Start Date: 4th August 2026 
     
    The Role
    We are seeking a professional, proactive, and reliable Control Room Operators to join our team. This is a key position within the security control room, responsible for overseeing incidents, coordinating responses, monitoring CCTV and staff activity, and ensuring the effective delivery of services in line with company procedures and client requirements. Applicants must hold a security guarding SIA license as a bare minimum.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Take the lead during shifts to effectively manage and resolve any issues or incidents that arise.
    • Liaise with Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) and deploy Mobile Officers in response to alarm activations.
    • Gather accurate information to ensure a prompt and appropriate response to incidents at client premises, in line with company procedures and contractual requirements.
    • Monitor CCTV in accordance with current legislation and report any identified activities appropriately.
    • Liaise with managers, keyholders, and Mobile Response Officers as required.
    • Use staff management software to monitor colleagues working on-site, including bookings on/off, lone worker check calls, and taking remedial action where necessary.
    • Use staff management systems to quickly address and resolve staff absences.
    • Monitor the movement and progress of Mobile Patrol Officers using vehicle tracking software.
    • Compile clear, accurate, and concise incident reports.
    • Provide detailed written handovers to incoming colleagues at shift change.
    • Respond to operational issues and problem-solve effectively as situations arise.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant legislation associated with the role.
    • Complete administrative duties including:
      • Advance rostering
      • Return to Work interviews
      • Telephone welfare checks
      • Auditing of Assignment Instructions

    We are looking for someone who is:
    • Decisive, confident, and responsible
    • Highly organised, with strong time management skills
    • Able to manage conflicting priorities effectively
    • Proactive and able to work calmly under pressure
    • Professional, with an excellent telephone manner and strong customer service skills
    • A strong communicator with good verbal and written English
    • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
     
    Desirable
    • Previous control room, security, or CCTV monitoring experience
    • Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment
    • Knowledge of incident handling and staff deployment processes

  • About You

  • We are looking for a confident, professional and dependable individual who enjoys working in a busy operational environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.

    You will be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure. You will be comfortable working with multiple systems, managing competing priorities and responding quickly to changing situations.

    To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous experience within a security, control room, CCTV monitoring or operational environment, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.

    You will also:

    • Hold a valid SIA licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervisor or CCTV Licence) or be willing to undertake the necessary training.

    • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Be confident using Microsoft Office and operational systems.

    • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate reports.

    • Be reliable, professional and customer-focused.

    • Be able to work a rotating shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

    • Have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undergo pre-employment screening and vetting checks.
